Windows 10 users have been complaining about a spate of issues including driver problems and internet bandwidth caused by forced updates from Microsoft on its latest operating system, while discerning users are finding new ways of overcoming these hitches.
Microsoft's Windows 10 is designed to receive and install new updates by default, as the company plans to release all future updates and version upgrades via Windows Update service rather than standalone releases like Windows 7 or Windows 8.
Windows Update - Some settings are managed by your system administrator The PC settings in the modern interface don’t look much better.
Choose how updates get installed When I am testing software, I usually work with linked clones in Virtual Box.
In right-side pane, double-click on "Turn off the offer to update to the latest version of Windows" option and set its value to "Enabled". It'll immediately disable the Windows 8.1 free update notification in Windows 8 and you'll never see it again. Select Windows Store key and in right-side pane, create a new DWORD Disable OSUpgrade and set its value to 1 5.
If you want to enable the notification again in future, set the value to Not configured. Close Registry Editor and log off or restart Windows to take effect.
I have received many emails from readers asking a way to turn these notification messages off in Windows 8.
